Fuck you, Village Voice. I am crazy, insane, looneytunes, whackadoodle, and anything else you care to call me, and this feature is fucking offensive, blatantly ableist, and just fucking uncreative. You seriously can’t do any better than this?
As for all you people approvingly reblogging this story and accompanying graphics—I’m glad to know exactly how you feel about me and all my crazy friends.
And now we know how you feel about infographics: you’re not exactly, har, crazy for them.
So, meloukhia writes a very long very passionate thing about the ableism that’s rampant in the piece and the follow up, as part of the ongoing conversations that people in this part of the tumblr-sphere have been having about ableism. And not only do they cut the bulk of ou’s commentary (which you can read in full), they then tag it: FILED UNDER: WHY SO SERIOUS? take a chill pill. lithium perhaps?
I am so fucking angry right now I can hardly even think. I hope there is a hell just so whoever is responsible for this can rot in it.
Their method of insulting people they don’t like (and who I also don’t like!) is to draw them as people with disabilities. And then not only have the gall to ask why so serious?, but also make more jokes about how gross and funny and WEIRD disability is.
I shouldn’t be surprised, but I am. And appalled.
Ahummmmmm….
